He participated in the Marchall Islands campaign; the attack on Truk, Caroline Islands; the assault on Palau, Yap and Woleai in the Caroline Islands; participated in the covering operations n the landings on New Guinea; participated in the bombardment of the Nomoi group of the Caroline Islands; participated in the bombardment of the Saipen Island and Tinian Island; participated in the bombardment and occupation of Guam; participated in the first battle of the Philippine Sea, participated in the bombardment of Rota Island; participated in the assault against the Philippine Islands by US Naval Carrier forces and replused attacks by Japanese aircraft; participated in the assault on Okinawa; participated on the assault on Formosa and participated in the second battle of the Philippine Sea, including the Sea-Air battle off Mindanao. He saw sea duty on the USS Wichita (CA45), USS Delta (AR-9), USS Yorktown (CVA-10), and the USS Pyro (AE-24).
