Anna Jane (Farnam) Richie was born on February 18, 1935. Ann, as she liked to be call, was born in Toltec, Arkansas. She was the third child of Fred Hobert Farnam and Dellar Isabel (Dixon) Farnam.  Anna spent her childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas where her father worked many different jobs supporting his family of 8 children. While her mother took care of the needs of her family at home.  She married Robert J. Whittmore in 1953.  They had a daughter Sharon Anne Whittmore that was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on Nov. 28, 1954.  The marriage lasted until April of 1959.  At the time of the divorce she worked for Westinghouse in Little Rock an also worked part time at a small diner.  There she met her second husband Sgt. Homer Van Richie  They were married  September 1959.  The marriage gave her two step-daughters Susan Denise Richie an Karen Vanessa Richie.  Because of Homers military status they moved to Knob Noster Missouri (Whiteman Air Force Base) and she went to work for Western Electric. in Lee's Summit.   When Homer was discharged from the Air Force they made their home in Lee's Summit, Missouri. They had a daughter Melinda Kaye Richie on Nov. 26, 1967.  Her husband of 30 years passed away on May 29. 1989.  She retired from AT&T, Western Electric/Lucent Tech.  (which all had been the same company) in late 1989.   She spent her retirement traveling, sewing, bowling, and was an avid fisherperson. But her greatest joy was enjoying her grandkids.  She soon became restless an looked for another job, and she found it at the Lee's Summit School District. She worked for them until she became quite ill in May of 1994. She lived out the remainder of her live battling her illness until she passed on Monday, October 2, 2006. Interred October 6, 2006.
