Faye Nelon Coates
Asheville - Faye Nelon Coates, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 26, 2009. A lifelong resident of the Beaverdam Community she was daughter of the late Ernest and Edith Osborne Nelon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Coates; brothers, Bob, Howard, Alfred and Lewis; sisters, Ruth Merrell, Doris Stradley, Helen Nelon, Marylou Nelon and Betty Mae Brown.
Mrs. Coates was a graduate of Grace High School and a longtime member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. Faye enjoyed gardening and had a passion for writing poetry but her greatest joy came from time spent with family.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Kline of Weaverville; son, David and his wife, Mellanie, of Asheville; granddaughter, Lauren Kline; brother, Roy Nelon and wife, Frances, of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Louise Nelon of Asheville; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Morris Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery, 399 Beaverdam Road with Mr. Bobby Nelon officiating.
