Marilda I. Sloan, "Red", 89, of Clermont, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009.

She was born in Burlington, Iowa and moved to Florida in 1987 from Toledo, Ohio after retiring from St. Anthony's Children's Home and St. Teresa Catholic School in Toledo.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

During WW II she worked for the US Army at the Rossford Ohio Army Depot, where she met her husband Clifford who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, James C. (Leila) Sloan, of Monmouth, IL; daughters, Inez (Gale) Carter, of Galesburg, IL, Pamela K. (Kenneth) Baker, of Clermont, FL, Patricia A. (Lee) Whittle, of Toledo, OH; sisters, Naomi (Alfred) Mark, Emma Loretta (Richard) Maass, Ruth (Melvin) Sommerfield and Shirley (Richard) Diewald, all of Burlington, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Otho and Homer Dickson.

The Funeral Mass was held in Florida on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Clermont.

A graveside service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association .
