Myrtle was born in Oakville, Wash., on Dec. 25, 1914, to Ernest and Mona Shelton. She married Roscoe Barrett in Montesano on Dec. 22, 1932.
They moved to the Methow Valley in 1949, and owned Barrett's Cafe (formerly The Horn In Cafe) in Twisp. They lived in Carlton, and spent time working in Alaska. After Roscoe died in the 1980s, Myrtle moved to Elma, Wash.
She is survived by her daughters Cleo (Dan) Days of Twisp, Opal (Lyle) Hanson of Elma, Kathy (Paul) Ponichel of Copalis Crossing, Wash., and Vickie (Dawane) Johnson of Elma; her son Roscoe (Vera) Barrett of Palmer, Alaska; her brothers Wesley Shelton of Southbend, Wash., Kenneth of Vancouver, Robert of Elma, and Richard of Woodburn, Ore.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.
