The Ottawa Weekly Herald (June 20, 1912) reported "Mrs. Mary A. Marlette died this morning at 11:30 o'clock at the home of her brother, M. A. Lane, 824 Burrough street. Mrs. Marlette was 77 years old, having been born in North Carolina February 1, 1835. Mrs. Marlette moved here from French Lick, Ind., about four years ago and from that time on has made her home with her brother, M. A. Lane. Mrs. Marlette's maiden name was Mary A. Lane. She was married to James N. Marlette in French Lick, Ind. Her husband died April 5, 1875. The deceased is survived by three children. They are Mrs. Delila Brent of Lebo, Kans.; Isaac Marlette of West Baden, Ind., and Martin V. Marlette of Louisville, Ky. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the home at 3:30 o'clock. Burial will be at Lebo, Kans. The Rev. J. T. Shreve will have charge of the services. The deceased has been a member of the Christian church for over 60 years."
She was buried in Lebo because Valentine and Delilia Brent were living there at the time of her death. A FAG member reported that the cemetery office stated that her grave is unmarked.
