R.B. Kirkpatrick, 85, a former resident of Caruthersville, died in a hospital in Houston, Texas, on April 1, and funeral services were held at the LaForge Undertaking Company chapel here Sunday afternoon, conducting the services were the Rev. Howard Ray and Rev. Floyd V. Brower, and burial was in Little Prairie cemetery.
Mr. Kirkpatrick was born October 4, 1874 in Dyer county, near Newbern, Tennessee, the son of Stewart and Minerva Kirkpatrick. For many years before going to Texas he lived in this city, a large part of the time in the home of his niece, Mrs. Arthur Cook and Mr. Cook.
He was an active Christian as long as his health permitted and was highly respected in his home community.
He leaves two daughters of his first marriage, Mrs. Lavelle Painter, and Mrs. Roy Reeder, both of Houston and with whom he made his home in his later years.
Also there were four sons by a second marriage, Mack and Nigel Kirkpatrick of Los Angeles, Mills of Oklahoma City, and Watson Kirkpatrick of West Fork, Arkansas; and seven grandchildren.
