Floyd is the son of Oscar Abrams and Ella Harder. His father was employed as an oil driller. In 1920 the family was living in Converse County, Wyoming.

Floyd married Elizabeth Agnes Wells January 29, 1930 in Los Angeles County, California. They had one child, daughter Norma Jean. The family lived with Elizabeth's mother until sometime after 1940. Floyd was employed as a molder's helper at Dayton Waldrip Co.

His wife became ill with cancer and died in November 1948. Floyd married Gladys Gray Beedie November 11, 1949 in Orange County, California. They had one child, daughter Kathleen, seven months later.

He died of complications following a stroke.
