I searched Ancestry.com for further information on Charles and this is what I found:
Charles was probably born in Bliss, Emmet County, Michigan as he is listed as living there in 1920 along with his parents, Wesley Bennett (1853-1942) and Nellie M. Bennett (1881- ).
His headstone indicates that he was in WWII so I wonder if he died overseas? His headstone reads,
"Charles W. Bennett Michigan PVT [Private] 136 Inf[antry] World War II
His father, Wesley, was born in Woodland, Barry Co., Michigan and died in 1942 in Bliss, Emmet Co., Michigan. No further information is given on Charles' mother, Nellie.
Ancestry.com indicates that Charles had the following siblings:
Richard H. Bennett 1918-
Charles W. 1920-
Faye 1923-
Charles also had many half-brothers and sisters - two of which are buried next to him.
Frank Burdett Bennett (Feb 26, 1903 - July 9, 1952)
Clayton Bennett (1879 - 1955)
Frank's father was Wesley and his mother, Emma M. Searles;
Clayton's father was Wesley and his mother, Janet E. Lombard.

Another member contacted me with this information:
Charles W Bennett SN 36551716 did die overseas during WWII. (This is the same service number listed on his marker application.) His temporary burial site was cemetery #6910.
This information comes from Ancestry; their US Rosters of the WWII Dead.
I have a Word file with all of those cemeteries listed. This cemetery was:
USAF Cemetery, Finschaffen #1, British New Guinea
So it would be safe to record that he died in New Guinea.
