PINE PLAINS — George G.
Antonakos, 51, of Mount Ross
Road, died Monday, January
13.
A Poughkeepsie native, he
was born Oct. 15,1923, the son of
Constantine Gus and Reasmia
Antonakos. He attended local
schools and the Triple City
Division of Syracuse University
in Endicott. He served in the Air
Force during World War II.
Mr. Antonakos was a.Q insurance
agent for the Guardian
insurance Co., of Poughkeepsie
and New City, and also was a
therapist at the Wassaic State
School. He formerly was em-
ployed at the John Hancock Co.,
of Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Antonakos was president
of the Town of Gallatin
Republican Club and a member
of the Kimsis Greek Orthodox
Church and the Veterans
Bowling. League of
Poughkeepsie. He also was past
president of the Ahepa
Fraternal Organination and
past secretary of the New York
State District Lodge of Ahepa.
Surviving Mr. Antonakos are
his wife, the former Carol
Thompson; six children, Jef-
frey,
James and Heather An-
tonakos, all of Vestal, and
Robert, Kevin and Cynthia
Shea, all of Pine Plains; his
mother, Mrs. Antonakos; three
sisters, Mrs. Bernard Gorman
and Mrs. Joanna Papastrat,
both of Poughkeepsie, and Mrs.
James Stratos, Charlottesville,
Va., and several nieces and
nephews.
The funeral was Wednesday
at the Robert H. Auchmoody
Funeral Home with a service at
the Kimisis Greek Orthodox
Church, 140 Grand Ave. The
Rev. Steven Sarigianis of-
ficiated. Burial was in the
Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
