PORT REPUBLIC - Roy William Armentrout, 79, of Route 1, Port Republic died Wednesday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Monday. He was born June 10, 1909, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Minnich Armentrout. Mr. Armentrout was a retired farmer and had worked for Dunham-Bush Inc. for six years. He attended Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren and the Cross Keys Senior Citizens Group. On Feb. 18, 1930, he married Catherine Depoy, who died Nov. 21, 1982. Surviving are two sisters, Marie Stroop and Nellie Cline, both of Harrisonburg; and four grandchildren whom he reared, Wanda Pence of Harrisonburg, Joyce Payne of Mount Crawford, Penny Knupp of Timberville and Harold E. Pence Jr. of Cross Keys. A funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Wilmer Gummett. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
