Berniece "Nan" Acord, 80, of Aracoma, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Logan Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Born February 17, 1929, at Wilkinson, she was a daughter of the late Warren & Florence Vinson Rankin. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 52 years, Jack Acord in 2001; sister, Gloria Rankin Kerley in 2001, and twin sons, Larry and Barry, at infancy. Nan was a member of the West Logan Church of God. Survivors include three daughters, Kim (Greg) Wooten of Melville, Leah McCallister of Holden and LaDonna Nagy of Yucca Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Phyllis Rankin Maynard of West Logan and Kaye Rankin Kuzell of Sandusky, OH; five grandchildren, Chris Nagy of Aracoma, Jared McCallister of Washington, DC, Ethan McCallister of Holden and Linsey and Olivia Wooten of Melville; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 5, at the West Logan Church of God with Rev. Glenn White Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Logan County Charitable and Educational Foundation Inc., 214 Startton Street, PO Box 1367, Logan, WV 25601. James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of the arrangements.
