Here's what I've found out about Alvin: He was born in Kentucky in 1812 and his monument was commissioned in Sept of 1891, so he probably passed in 1891. He was in Co F, 9th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry. He married Elizabeth Gladden July 10, 1837 in Scott County, Indiana.

I found his son (Alvin E. Salmon (1854 - 1938)) in Austin Cemetery and went searching in ancestry.com... I hope this is helpful!
