Floyd G. Harthan, 81, lifelong resident of West Cohasset, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, in his home.

He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in West Cohasset to Grant and Alma Harthan. He attended Harthan Country School in West Cohasset. He married Thelma Heinrich Nov. 8, 1941. He owned and operated a farm in West Cohasset and also worked as a logger.

He was a member of the West Cohasset Chapel, where he had served as board member, usher and building committee member, and in earlier years, he supplied firewood. He was a member of the West Cohasset Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Grace (Willard) Skelly.

Surviving family includes his wife, Thelma; three daughters, Linda (Robert) Hughes of Phoenix, Ariz., Lois (Dick) Drown of Cohasset and Gayle (Dale) Geisler of Cohasset; a sister, Betty (Robert) McKinney of Sun Lake, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nephews; and a niece.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today in Libbey Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday in West Cohasset Chapel, with the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. Burial in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Memorials may be made to Itasca Hospice Project or West Cohasset Chapel.
