Born to Susie Howard Allender on June 16, 1930 in Boyd County, KY.

He enlisted in the Marines, eventually attaining the rank of Corporal, and served in the Korean War as a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on June 10, 1951.

Corporal Allender was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
