Two Boys Drowned
A double drowning occurred in New River, at Meadow Creek, yesterday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock. The victims were Wilbert, aged 11, and Miller, aged 7, little sons of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Bennett, who reside opposite the railway station, across the river at that place. It seems that the little fellows had strayed down to the river and gone in bathing, without the knowledge of their parents. The small boy got out too far and was being swept from his feet by the strong current and deep water and the older boy went to his rescue and he, too was soon drowned, meeting a tragic end a few minutes after his little brother's life had been terminated. Help came, but it was about a half hour before the bodies were recovered.
The remains of the little victims of a treacherous water course were buried this afternoon in a cemetery in Raleigh County, at Pear, on the mountain about three miles from Meadow Creek.
Following the deplorable killing of another citizen of that vicinity on the fourth, the sympathies have been stirred as never before, three lives being snuffed out within a few hours of each other.--Hinton Independent Herald.

TWO CHILDREN DROWNED--Two small sons of Washington Bennett, who lives just across the river from Meadow Creek, in Raleigh County lost their lives last Wednesday afternoon while bathing in New River. Their ages were 7 and 11 years. The tragedy occurred at 4:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The bodies were recovered in about thirty minutes, but too late to be revived, although every means of resuscitation known to the family and immediate neighbors were employed.
