Steve was born Aug. 3, 1947, in Champaign, a son of Clinton and Mary Jean Feicke Wendell.
He married Cindy Ridgley Feb. 7, 1971, in Champaign. She survives in Success, Mo.
Also surviving are his mother, Mary Jean Wendell of Parker, Colo.; one son, Lawren Wendell of DeWitt; three daughters, Dawn Burns, of DeWitt; Heather Wendell, of Farmer City, and Angela (Jud) Carter of DeWitt; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Cassidy Burris; Garrett Wendell; Jonathan and Emily Robinson; Macy andBriley Carter; and one sister, Barbara (Richard) Muhlhauser, of Parker, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Wendell, and son, Benjamin Wendell.
Steve was a farmer. He graduated from Moore High School, Farmer City, in 1965 and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1970 with a B.S. degree in animal science. Steve had been a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity at the University of Illinois and a past president of the Alpha Gamma Rho Alumni Association. Steve had been the State of Illinois Section 16 President of the FEA; he received numerous awards for speaking contests in FFA and 4H; he had been a delegate to the State FFA convention; received the State Farmers award; won the National Judging contest for fat stock; he had been a Top Notcher 4H leader and a member of the farm bureau.
Steve was a member of the Farmer City United Methodist Church. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and truly an amazing man.
