Chaltry, Wilma F. (Miller) Powell, OH (formerly of Ypsilanti, MI)
Age 88, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 in Ohio. She was born January 8, 1921 in Fort Branch, IN; daughter of Edward and Margaret (Dale) Riddle. At the age of 23, Wilma moved to Ypsilanti where she worked as the secretary at Holmes School for 35 years before retiring in 1974. She continued substituting for another ten years in all schools because of her love for children. She was a member of the Ypsilanti Free Methodist Church where she worked in child ministries for 30 years. She was also a member of the Willow Run Assoc. of Educational Secretaries, the Washtenaw Assoc. of Retired School Personnel and many more clubs and organizations. Two years ago Wilma moved to Powell, Ohio to be near her family. Survivors include; her daughter; Arletta White of Powell, Ohio, 12 grandchildren. 21 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Chaltry, two sons; Kenneth, Sr. and Ronald Miller, her daughter; Donna K. Argo and her two brothers; Walter and Floyd Riddle. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday September 8, 2009 at Ypsilanti Free Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Crane, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 6-9 p.m. at Stark Funeral Service, Moore Memorial Chapel and then Tuesday 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
