Swittenberg Rites Tuesday
E. C. Swittenberg, 78, died in Tyler, Texas Saturday morning, following a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Smith County, former resident of Columbia, where he was associated with the N. O. G. N. Railroad. He lived in Tyler for the past 45 years and was connected with the Cotton Belt Railway System until his retirement in 1956. He was a member of the Methodist church, a Mason and a Shriner, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
His wife, former Katie Redding of Terry, died in March, 1955.
Surviving members of his family are: a niece, Mrs. George W. Godwin of Jackson; a nephew, Charles H. Birdsong of Winterhaven, Fla.; and several cousins, Mrs. J. H. Hutchinson, L. P. Roberts, Ernest Roberts, and Robert Swittenberg of Jackson.
Funeral services will be held in Tyler, Texas, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. His remains will then be sent to Jackson and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Jim E. Smith, pastor of the Terry Methodist Church.
