Carl S. Bauer, 83, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Parkview Hospital. He was born on Aug. 8, 1926, in Alexander County, Ill. Carl and his wife of 63 years, Margaret Bishop, came to Fort Wayne in 1947 from southern Illinois. He worked at International Harvester and also owned his own maintenance company, Custom Home Service. He retired in 1991 after working as a purchasing agent for 21 years at Magnavox Corp. He was active with Boys Scouts in both Allen and Whitley Counties for many years and was awarded the Order of the Arrow as a Scout Leader. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking as well. For 18 years, he and Margaret spent their winters as snowbirds at Lake Okeechobee, Fla. "Carl's family meant everything to him and he meant everything to his family."
