Obituary
Everett Harris Kittell was born at Shabbona Grove, Illinois, November 14, 1856, and died at Durango, Colorado, April 5, 1937 at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 23 days. About 1875 he first came west engaging in mining in Golden, New Mexico. He then returned to Illinois where he soon re-migrated to Loup City, Nebraska. There he married Eva Callen. Of this union there were five children born, three of these children and his loving wife having preceded him in death. In 1910 he migrated again to Cortez, Colorado, where he resided until 1925, going to Bloomfield, New Mexico where he has resided since, and where he has been engaged in the oil refining business. In his younger days he was quite active in politics, having served as County Clerk and State Representative in Nebraska, and served three terms as Assessor in Montezuma county, Colorado. He leaves to mourn him two sons, Arthur and Jeff, living at Bloomfield, New Mexico, and twelve grand-children. His body was active and his mind keen until his last illness. He was ever ready and willing to go out of his way to assist those less fortunate than himself.
