John "Jack" S. Addison, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at NHC Health Care Center.

He was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Benjamin Boyd Addison and Geraldine Ruby Longenecker Addison.

Mr. Addison was veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He retired from Union Carbide Corporation where he was a health physicist at the X-10 Plant.

He was one of the original organizers of the Oak Ridge Boys Club, where he served as the athletic director as well as being on the Board of Directors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Addison.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bryant Humphreys Addison, with whom he would have celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary on Oct. 4, 2009.

He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Fillers and husband, David, of Fairport, N.Y.; brother, James Addison and wife, Betty, of Decatur, Ga.; sister-in-law, Ladyne Addison of Greensboro, N.C.; and granddaughter, Rebecca Se-Hee Fillers of Fairport, N.Y.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.

The funeral will be Sunday at noon at Weatherford Mortuary with David Fillers officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Sweetwater.

The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Boys and Girls Club of Oak Ridge.
