Mr. Earl Leon Roberts died February 8, 2008 in Williamsburg. He was born on December 13, 1926 in Alta Vista, KS, the son of Allen Dale Roberts and Pearl Ina (Chitty) Roberts.

Mr. Roberts earned his GED from the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1974 and graduated Magna Cum Laud from Saint Leo Junior College in 1983. He retired with the rank of Commander United States Navy after thirty years of service in1974 having received the United Nations Medal and several Bronze Stars.

Mr. Roberts was recently preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Edna Ardell S. Roberts, as well as his parents and an older brother, Russell E. Roberts of KS. Earl is survived by his brother Lonnie Carroll Roberts of Clearwater, KS, and sister Norma Allene R. Dinwiddie of Independence MO; his four grateful and loving children, Vicki Lynn R. Henry of Williamsburg, VA, Sharon Kay R. Terjak of McKenney, TX, Kenneth Earl Roberts of Yorktown, VA, and Nancy Jean R. Coverdale of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to gather from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Tuesday February 12, 2008 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road in Williamsburg, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Janna Roche, Chaplain at Patriots Colony of Williamsburg, will be officiating. Burial will be in Williamsburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Williamsburg Branch Office, 263 McLaws Circle, Suite 203, Williamsburg, VA 23185 or to the James City County Rescue Squad.
