A native of Baton Rouge, Jean was married to Arthur "Artie" Bergold for 56 years. They are the parents of Kathy, Gary and Shannon Bergold, grandparents of Rachel Bergold Landon, Megan and Alyssa Bergold and great-grandparents of Layton and Linley Landon. She is survived by a sister, Lois Mallett. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Ella Hopkins McIntyre.
Jean was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mother loved to travel. We took long, wonderful vacations all over the country. Just a few days before she died my daughter asked what songs should we have at the funeral. By this time she was so weak she could hardly speak. With no hesitation time after the question she very softly answered "On the Road Again". And that was one of the songs we used! My daughter introduced the song to the mourners by relating this story.
Mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on August 26, 2009. We were told she had about 6 months to live. She died 11 days later. She was a devoted, loving Mother. We were reared with unconditional love and support.
She would be so proud to know that her granddaughter Rachel recently won the title of Mrs. Idaho 2011

PS - HALLOWEEN TOKENS ARE WELCOME! I'll never forget the sight of Mamma in a pumpkin costume handing out candy when she was in her 70's! She loved to decorate for all holidays.
