This couple had eight children: (1) Ruth Crane Smith of Philadelphia, PA, (2) Joseph Henry Crane, Jr. of Florham Park, NJ (3) George Washington Hall Crane of Jacksonville, FL (4) Katherine Brown of Hackensack, NJ (5) Geraldine Viola Crane Loughran of Dumont, NJ (6) Dr. James Russell Crane, Sr. of Bogota, NJ (7) Malcom Crane of Jersey City, NJ (8) Margaret Crane Yarrington of Spring Hill, Florida.
In 1960, Joseph and his wife, Harriet, moved into 36 Roosevelt Boulevard in Florham Park, NJ with his eldest son, Joseph H. Crane, Jr. (At one point, Joe Crane, Jr was the mayor of Florham Park, NJ). His wife, Harriet, died her on November 22, 1963 in an upstairs bedroom with their children all around. (Same day as JFK assasination)
Prior to this move, Joseph and his wife, Harriet, lived in Jersey City, NJ for fifty years. This couple moved to Jersey City from East Orange, NJ circa 1910.
Joseph H. Crane, Sr. died in a nursing home in Chatham, NJ. His son, Joe Crane, Jr., placed him in this facility in the morning. Later, Joseph Crane, Sr. laid down for an afternoon nap and never woke up.
