LEO F. WALZ FUNERAL SERVICES HELD HERE WEDNESDAY MORNING
Funeral services for Leo Francis Walz, who passed away early Sunday morning after a brief illness, were held Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic church with Father T. L. Flood conducting the last rites. Burial was at Calvary cemetery.
Leo Francis Walz was a well-known Clay county farmer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for 25 years. Active in school affairs, he was chairman of the school board for District No. 40 for ten years.
Leo Francis Walz ... at an early age came to South Dakota, where he took up farming. April 22, 1908, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Chaussee at Jefferson and to this union were born eight children who survive. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. The deceased is survived by his widow and sons, Bernard, Ralph, Delmar, Warren and William, all of Vermillion. Daughters who survive their father are Mrs. Viola Huetson of Denton, Tex, Mrs. Lorraine Powell of Vermillion and Mrs. Mary Grangaard of Bell, Calif. Mr. Walz is also survived by a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Mrs. Ceceila Cleland, of Vermillion, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Byrnes, of Sioux Falls.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Elmore-Wagner Funeral home.
