Mrs. Alma Hazel Shinall, 86, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at 7:17 A.M., at her residence.
Born May 23, 1918, in Webster County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Reuben Cornealius Hinton and Zelpher Elizabeth McClellan Hinton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Raymond Hazel; one sister, Nellie Brantley; and four brothers, Kevil Hinton, Doxie Hinton, Doyle Hinton, and C. C. Hinton Sr.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Dixon, KY, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her husband, W. E. "Bill" Shinall of Madisonville; two daughters, Rosalyn "Rose" Howe of Winslow, IN, and Nancy Snyder of Farmington, MO; four sons, Reuben "Sonny" Hazel of Lenburg, IL, Michael "Mike" Hazel of Frankfort, IN, David Shinall of Murray, KY, and Robert Hayes of Dixon, KY; three sisters, Nina Silvers of South Gate, MI, Jewell Lovan of Benton, KY, and Roma McClain of Madisonville; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 10:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Bud Baird and Bro. Hank Cayce officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs/New Harmony Cemetery in Wheatcroft, KY.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 22, 2004, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until the service time at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be K. C. Hibbs, Zach Hibbs, Jesse Hibbs, Scott Hazel, Brian Jasper, Andrew Daughtery, Tim Shinall, and William Shinall. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Derington, Dennis Howe, Lisa Henley, Tosha Jasper, Chelsey Howe, Logan Howe, Catlin Jasper, Kyle Jasper, and Skyler Hibbs.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
