Charles Edwin Bowman (1817-1888)- the son of George and Sallie (RoBards) Bowman - married 1845, in Garrard County, to Permelia Ewing.

There were at least six children born of this marriage from 1847 to 1858. The first two were born in Missouri but both deceased together in 1852 of scarlet fever and were buried in the Bowman family graveyard Garrard Co KY. The writer speculates that Charles was in Missouri for some years in conjunction with land acquisition there by his father, George, who later devised certain Missouri land in his will to granddaughters

George Bowman died in 1864 and left his property totaling almost 1,000 acres {Bowman's Bottom Plantation} in Garrard Co, KY, to his son Charles Edwin Bowman (1716-1888). The inheritance include the plantation home, slaves, cash, notes, chattels, and personal estate. He also left to his granddaughters slaves and land including land in Missouri. Upon Charles Edwin Bowman's death in 1888, the land was inherited by his daughters, Georgia E. and Wilmoth Bowman. The land remained in the Bowman family until Georgia and Wilmoth Bowman sold it to J. B. and Henry Ruble in 1918.

The old home, plantation and Bowman graveyard are located at
1596 BOWMANS BOTTOM ROAD, LANCASTER, KY - Garrard County Kentucky
