William Thomas McCausland,was the last born child of 9 children born to Jane Lindsey-McCausland & John McCausland

He was born in Wild Brier, Chester Co, Pennsylvania

Willliam was a member of the Lyndell Grange.William was graduated from the graded course of study in East Brandywine Township in 1902 and after leaving the high school was with his father on the farm. He was also working as a carpenter when not farming. He had always had a keen interest in and acquired a good understanding of mechanical work. He was a clear thinker and with his clean, moral, active and vigorous body had a bright future ahead of him.

William died August 18, 1906 in Chester County Hospital, West Chester, Pennsylvania, he was only 20 years old.

Cause of death: Accident, Buried 21 Aug 1906 in Hopewell Church, Chester Co, Pennsylvania.

William died while at work for his employer, Edge Lewis at the farm of J. Gibson McIlvane in Woodbine. The young man was engaged in raising a piece of lumber, when the board upon which he was standing broke, thus throwing him to the ground. The back of his head was crushed and one shoulder badly injured. He was picked up and medical aid soon gotten. He was then taken by trolley to the Chester County Hospital, where he died that evening. Six young men: Leon North, Isaac Stevens, George Laird, George Fraser, Earle and Harry Moore, all brother Grangers acted as pall bearers.
