John E. Searles, 59, Marion, died at 1:55 a.m. Monday in his residence. He was born in Huntington to Arthur Searles and the late Roda (Mansbarger) Henderson.

He married Mary Boyer on October 22, 2002. She survives.

John was formerly employed at the Chronicle Tribune and was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, serving two tours. He loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife, Mary P. Searles, Marion; daughters, Faith Johnson, Wabash, Catie (Gary) Brown, Huntington, Renea Brown, Huntington; sons, Mathew (Melissa) Brown, Huntington, Travis (Mary) Brown, Wabash; father, Arthur (Thelma) Searles, Andrews; siblings, Patty (Bill) Bartrom, Huntington, James (Nicki) Henderson, Upland, Judy (Jimmy) McGlothlin, Tulsa, Okla., Cindy Karst, Andrews, Ray Henderson, Oakhurst, Okla., Pam (Kevin) Wynn, Sapulpa, Okla., Carol (Bill) Graham, Atlanta, Mo., Albert Henderson, Oakhurst, Okla., Mary Searles , Huntington, Frankie Henderson , Marion, Rosie (Scott) Johnson, Converse; brother-in-law, Wayne Medaris, Marion; sister-in-law, Jan Henderson, Marion; special cousin, Bill Kling; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion with Pastor Dave Morrison officiating. Burial is in Marion National Cemetery, Marion.
