Lise (Lisette) Marthe Détruit was born November 23, 1929 in Boulogne - Billancourt, France to Emile Henri Gilbert Détruit and Marthe Olga (Postel) Détruit. She was educated first in El Salvador, and spoke French, Spanish and English. Her education continued at the beginning of World War II in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at Miss Edgar's & Miss Cranyss School. She then completed her education back in Guatemala at the Lycee Francais, where she was awarded a Distinguished Basketball Metal. She finished her primary education at the English American School in Guatemala S.A. She then immigrated to the United States around 1949 and obtained American Naturalization in 1956. She continued her education through the Houston Community College System to improve her skills.

Lise was a sports enthusiast as she played basketball when she was younger and enjoyed viewing a few baseball games that were played in the Houston Astrodome. She also enjoyed scuba diving (NASDS certified diver) later in life. As an avid photographer, a few of her photographs have been acquired by the Louisiana Division at the New Orleans Public Library (archives). These have been used by the New Orleans Magazine in 2014 and later. Additional photographs have been used by other societies that included the U.S.S. Cabot (CVL-28/AVT-3) veterans' group. Additional photographic images in her possession (late 1930's - ) are retained by the University of Houston photographic department archives.

Lise worked for many years for a few car rental companies in which she obtained a senior management position. These companies included Continental Car Rental, Econo-Car International and Dollar Rent A Car. With her multilingual skills she moved to the banking field with First City National Bank foreign currency department and as a member of the American Institute of Banking. When many of the banks had closed in the early 1980's in Houston, she transitioned to the oil industry (Terra Resources and Williams Oil and Gas) until retirement. She then volunteered with both Ben Taub General Hospital Eye Clinic and a few local charities.

She was preceded in death by her parents Emile Henri Gilbert Détruit (1896-1962) [Find A Grave Memorial# 156662821] and Marthe Olga (Postel) Détruit (1896-1980).
