Art and architecture critic, magazine editor, national television journalist and commentator. Aline Saarinen was the editor of the Art News magazine from 1946 till 1948. She received The 1951 International Award for Best Foreign Criticism as well as the American Federation of Arts Award for best newspaper criticism in 1953. Finnish-born architect Eero Saarinen was the subject of an interview she did in 1954. They married shortly thereafter. A Guggenheim Award was presented to her in 1957. She became the art editor and critic for the New York Times. In 1962, NBC television network invited her to become part of their staff, making documentaries as well as serving as the third woman in their news division. She was the first woman to serve as director of an overseas news office for a television network when she was named the Head of the Paris Bureau.
