Tuesday, January 7, 1969

CROOKS - Clarence Floyd Crooks, son of John L. and Mary Elizabeth Crooks, was born August 21, 1897, near Norwood, Iowa and passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, December 29, 1968, where he had been a patient for the past six weeks, at the age of 71 years, four months and eight days.

Floyd, as he was known to most people, lived the past few years at 1521 Armory in Chariton. He served in the U.S. Army in 1942 and received a medical discharge.

Floyd was the youngest son of nine children. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; five brothers, Willie, Clark, Jess, Jim and Jasper; and three sisters, Mae, Viola and Clarcy.

He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Laura Crooks of Chariton, Nora Crooks of South Dakota, Lena Crooks of Des Moines, and one brother-in-law, D. H. Lovell of Chariton; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held January 2, 1969 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Pearl Sams officiating. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery near Norwood.
