Her first husband Benjamin Hasbrook was murdered on 4 Feb 1873- shot in the breast with large buckshot and killed instantly while investigating a noise in his granary with the hired hand. Many newspaper articles in Oregon carried the story and subsequent arrest, trial in Lafayette, Oregon and acquittal (in May 1873) of the hired hand (Joseph Coxon) including a response from the community saying they would probably lynch the suspect if he ever was seen in their parts ever again and a formal "indignation" posted in the newspapers from the community. She had 3 children with Benjamin: Charles born Nov 1868 and Benjamin born about 1871 and Dora born about 1873. Dora married Orval Focht.
Second marriage was to Homer Avery Adkins (it was also HIS second marriage) and they had (at least) four children: Martha Matilda born 1877 (married Joseph Roberts) and died in 1923 in California, Mildred born 1879 and died in 1908 in Portland, Oregon, Pearle born in 1880 and died in Dec. 1964 (married James Wilkerson), and Avery Conner Adkins born in 1883 and died in 1950.
