Dos Palos Man Takes Own Life
George Epperson, 42, post-master at Santa Rita Park and adjutant of the Dos Palos American Legion, ended his own life Wednesday night of last week . . . . Ill health was given as his reason for the act.
Epperson was born in Rose Hill, Kansas, and served over seas in the world war. He was a pharmacist in Wichita, Kansas, until two and a half years ago when he came to California.
Funeral services were conducted at the Dos Palos Methodist church Friday afternoon, with Rev. Joseph Bogle officiating. The body was sent to Wichita for burial.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jewel Epperson, of Santa Rita Park; his mother, Mrs. C.W. Warrender, of Wichita; two sisters, a brother and two step-brothers, all of Whita [sic].
Notes: Jewel remarried Paul Chez in 1946 and remained in the Fresno area. She died July 19, 2001. Daughter Meta Jean (Epperson) Speece died in 2009. Daughter Georgeanne (Epperson) Pickett McCormick died in 2010.
