He was a member and 50-year deacon of Mount Teman Baptist Church, Rockwood. He enjoyed singing, talking about the Lord, helping others, hunting and fishing. He was a retired Teter Line Service tree trimmer.
He was preceded in death by parents, W.J. and Lizzie Parks Grant; brother, William C. Grant; and sisters, Mildred Grant, Sue Thomas and Wanda Adkins.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Freida White Grant of Rockwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Julie Grant of New Mexico, Albert and Joy Grant of Oakdale and William and Pam Grant of Oklahoma; daughters and son-in-law, Rose Treadway and Mona and Doug Bryant, all of Rockwood; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Gene Lawson and Alice and Dalton Chapman, all of Rockwood; brothers and sisters-in-law, Minvard and Jean Grant and Tommy and Barbara Grant, all of Oakdale, and Carson Grant of Harriman; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Mount Teman Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Tilley and the Rev. Glenn Leffew officiating.
Graveside service and burial will be at Dry Hill Cemetery.
