Catherine was the 2nd of 8 children of John Cox and Margaret Davis. She married Henry Hardin about 1786 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She and Henry had 10 children, including Sarah (1787-1856), Mary (1790-??), Cynthia Kathy (1792-1865), Jane (1793-1876), John (1795-1869), Nancy (1800-1858), Elizabeth (1800-??), James Wilburn (1802-1895), Susan (1804-??), and Richard Tolliver (1812-1896).
