Jacob E. Somsel, in failing health for the last 10 years, died at the age of 85 Tuesday morning at 10:45 o'clock, at the Rice Nursing Home.

Born in Clinton County on June 20, 1879, he was the son of Jacob and Martha Kirkendall Somsel.

Mr. Somsel married Oval A. Goodnight on October 27, 1906. She died June 9, 1955.

Mr. Somsel was a member of the Michigantown Christian Church and the Knights of Pythias Lodge.

He resided at 653 Washington Avenue, Frankfort.

On July 8, 1906, he went to work for the John A. Ross Construction Co. During his employment with the firm, the company built the Armstrong, Washington, Clay, Green and Kyger street bridges. He also helped build the Frankfort Library and Post Office. On December 20, 1920, he became manager of the ross real estate holdings.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Billingsley of Lebanon and Mrs. Helen McGill of Frankfort; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. George W. Smith officiating.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Mausoleum.
