PINEY FLATS, TN - Dorthy H. Norman, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City, Tenn. A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie Boone Howell, and wife of the late George D. Norman. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Charles and Ernest Howell. She was a member of Piney Flats Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Lola Briggs and Judy Jenkins, both of Piney Flats, Loretta Hubbard of Elizabethton, Tenn, and Pam Gentry of Greenville, Tenn.; three sisters, Margie Carver, Myrtle Walker and Jean McMahan; three brothers, Gordon, Roy and Ben Howell; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City. Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Reed Mullins officiated.
