Paul Lindberg, served on city council, dies
GALESBURG -- Paul M. Lindberg, 82, Glendora, Calif. formerly of Galesburg, died in The Adventist Comvalescent Hospital, Glendora on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
He was a Galesburg alderman, serving terms from 1939-42, 1949-52 and 1959-64. He resigned Sept. 1, 1964. During his years on the city council, Mr. Lindberg spearheaded a move to get radios installed in the city's police cars.
His brother, the late David Lindberg was Galesburg's mayor from 1941-44.
Mr. Lindberg was born in Galesburg on June 11, 1907, the son of Peter W. and Elna Nelson (Nelsdotter) Lindberg. He married Catherine Comer in Galesburg on April 7, 1928. She died on Nov. 5, 1976. He married Dorothy Bruce in California on Aug. 5, 1979.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Paul F. Lindberg, Covina, Calif.; two sisters, Elna Fosburg, Galesburg and Martha Swedlund, Barnesveld, Wis., and three grandchildren.
He was a conductor and brakeman for the Burlington Railroad, and was an automobile salesman in Galesburg for many years. He moved to California in 1963, where he owned a restaurant until retiring several years ago.
A memorial service will be held in Oakdale Memorial Park, Glendora, Calif. on Friday, with the Rev. Jack Lindberg, a nephew, officiating. Burial will be Monday in Oakdale Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Huntington Medical Research Institute, 734 Fairmont Ave., Pasadena, Calif. 91105, the family said.
