"Stanovich Dies In Train Accident"

"Anthony T. M. Stanovich, Jr., 34, native of Biloxi and resident of Algiers,La., for 12 years was killed Saturday at 2 p.m. while working for the Texas and Pacific Railroad. Mr. Stanovich was struck by a train at Donaldsonville, La., and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. He resided at 4518 Copernicus Street in Algiers. Mr. Stanovich, a veteran of World War II, had been employed as a brakeman for the Texas and Pacific for five years. Previous to his work with the railroad he had been employed as a ship carpenter for Higgins Inc. of New Orleans. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and a member of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rita Ripoli Stanovich; one son, Anthony Stanovich III; one daughter, Diane Stanovich; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Stanovich of Biloxi; three sisters, Mrs. Antonia Barhanovich, Mrs. George Neuburger, and Mrs. Adrien Elwyn, all of Biloxi; his grandmother, Mrs. Jake Stanovich of Oakland, Calif., and many other relatives. Funeral Services will be held from the O'Keefe Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Monday followed by services at the Church of Nativity. Interment will be in Biloxi Cemetery. A rosary service was held at the O'Keefe Funeral Home Sunday night."
