Rosa was born to Christian and Sophia Johanna Tessin Templin. Her family made the big move to America in 1882 aboard the "Westphalia" with their children Fritz, then 8, Wilhelm, then 6, Bertha, then 3 and Herman who was an infant.
They first lived a short time in Will Co. and Joliet, Ill where they were naturalizated on 1 november 1884. Her parents then moved to Traverse Co., Minnesota where they lived the rest of their lives. Along the way they had two more children, Emma and Rosie.
Her siblings were:
1. Fredrich "Fritz" Bernhardt Christian Templin (also known in America as Fred) 1874-1946
2. Wilhelm "William" Carl Martin Templin 1876-1931
3. Bertha Henrietta Wilimena Templin (Erbe) 1879-1956
4. Herman "Henry" John Templin 1881-1932
5. Emma Martha Templin (Applequist) 1885-1953
Rosie married Henry Leonard Proebstle and had four children:
1. Vera R. Proebstle (Dennehey) 1910-2008
2. Leonard John Proebstle 1912-1988
3. Verna Proebstle (Morrow) 1916-1944
4. Roy Proebstle 1916-1944. He was lost in flight over Alaska during WW II.
