He was the 3rd Michael in his direct line but was 'Jr' on his 1825 Marriage Record because his grandfather was dec'd, and was 'Sr' in his mother's 1838 Will because his father was dec'd.

Martha and Mike were the parents of 7 known children:

1) Jesse Pickney McGee 1825–1911 married Lucinda E. Emerson
2) William W McGee born ca1828 (NFR aft 1850)
3) Mary Elizabeth Lucinda McGee 1832–1846 (died the same day as sister Asenath).

7) Talula H. J. "Lula" McGee 1844-1878, married Alexander C. Black (1834-1876) and lived in Boyle Co, KY.

In July 1860 Martha and her daughter, Lula, were enumerated in Anderson Co, SC; then, in January 1861, Lula married Alexander Black in Madison County, KY.

Either before or after Lula's marriage, Mrs. Martha McGee was married to Rev. Thomas Springer Bronston Sr (1791–1869) as his third wife. He was the grandfather of Alexander Black. He was a well-to-do farmer and minister from Richmond, KY who preached the gospel throughout the South.

In 1870, Martha Bronston, widow, was enumerated in Perryville, Boyle, KY with Alex and Lula Black and their children. Alex died in 1876. Lula died in April 1878; and Martha returned to SC, dying just over a month later at the home of her son.

Obituary (Anderson Intelligencer 30 May 1878, Pg.3 Col.2)
"We regret to announce the death of Mrs. Martha Bronston, an aged and respected lady, which occurred at the residence of her son, Mr. Jesse P. McGee, in this County, on last Friday, after a short illness. Mrs. Bronston was born in 1805, and first married the late Michael McGee, who resided near Belton, in this County, and died many years before the late war. His widow afterwards married Mr. Bronston, and in 1858 removed to Tennessee, where Mr. Bronston died several years ago, and three weeks before her death Mrs. Bronston returned to this County to spend her remaining days with her son. She was an excellent lady, and was greatly beloved by many of the older people of the County, who were well acquainted with her exemplary life. Her remains were interred at First Creek on last Saturday, after solemn and appropriate funeral services conducted by Rev. A. Rice in the presence of a large number of sorrowing
relatives and friends."

Note: Rev Bronston was not from TN but from KY; however Alex and Lula's oldest son was born in TN.
