Western Figure, Businessman, Soldier: William Cody Garlow, born at Scout's Rest Ranch, Nebraska was the last grandson of William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody. Garlow made his own mark on history during World War II. He negociated the surrender of 5000 American troops, the largest in the European Theater, during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Harvard, and became a lawyer in the town of Cody, Wyoming (founded by his grandfather). There he also established a radio station, (KODI), started a river float business, and a guest ranch. He became a spokesman for Daisy Air Rifles, in which the company asked him to change his surname to Cody, to captitalize on his grandfather's name. He went by the name Bill Cody II, and is buried under the name William Garlow Cody.
