Russell
On Friday, December 8th, Anton Turba, a pioneer settler of Russell, passed to his eternal reward at the home of his son, John Turba. The deceased was born in Bohemia, Austria on Nov. 29, 1834. In 1855 he came with his parents to America and settled in the Town of Russell, two miles west of St. Anna. In 1862, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Reinl who with two sons and a daughter survive him. His children are Mrs. J. B. Hanert of Kiel, John Turba on the homestead and Joseph Turba of Kiel. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren. The funeral services took place Monday morning at ten o'clock at St. Ann's church and interment in the St. Ann's cemetery. Rev. J. H. Schmitt officiating.
The deceased was an active member of the St. Joseph's society, who in a body escorted the remains to their final resting place. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved relatives.
