William Lincoln BEARDSLEY was born November 4th, 1860, at Rock Island, Illinois, and departed this life November 10th, 1932, at Shattuck, Oklahoma, age 72 years and six days. He was married September 30, 1884 to Maggie O. MILLER, at Ottawa, Kansas. To this union two children were born, LeRoy L. BEARDSLEY of Arnett, Okla.; and Mrs. Edna S. ROGERS of Berkeley, California.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, Maggie O. BEARDSLEY of Arnett, Okla.; their two children, five grand children, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. BEARDSLEY was a man of kind disposition, who had a word of good cheer for all. He always looked upon the bright side of life, this attitude cheering the lives of all around him. To know him was to love and admire him.

He came to Oklahoma in 18898, settling near Alva. In 1901, he with his family moved to Gate, in Beaver County, Oklahoma, where he engaged in the newspaper business. Here he was also a United States Commissioner for several years, prior to Statehood. He handled a large a mount of legal work incidental to homesteading. In this work he became widely known and respected so that with statehood, he was elected to the office of County Clerk. This office he resigned the latter part of the term to return to his newspaper business.

During his residence in Beaver county he was associated with the late Frank KELL in the building of the Wichita Falls and Northwestern railway. He was in charge of the Townsite and Railway lands of Forgan.

He and his good wife moved to Arnett in 1928, and established a gift shop, which they have been conducting. He was always active in political and civic matters, serving as Secretary of the Commercial Club at Arnett. He put new life into this organization and was known as a real booster. Mr. BEARDSLEY was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge for many years, being Grand Chancellor from 1922 to 1923 and a member in good standing at the time of his passing.

At twilight Thursday evening he breathed his last and his passing was: "As one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."

Arnett and community will miss the kindly smiles and good graces of "Daddy" BEARDSLEY and the entire community sympathizes with the family in this sad hour.

Funeral services were held Friday at Shattuck, after which the body was taken to Alva for burial.
