Ivan Eugene Mason, son of Owen Andrew Mason and Joanna Jenette Waugh Mason was born April 13, 1928 in Woodburn, Iowa and passed from this life September 15, 2009 at his home in Osceola after a two year battle with lung cancer. He was 81 years of age.

Ivan received his education at the Lowe and Ottawa country schools and attended the Woodburn schools beginning in fifth grade. He graduated from Woodburn High School in 1945. Ivan then worked on the farm with his father and began work at John Deere in Ankeny in the fall of 1948. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Boor on December 18, 1948 at Osceola, Iowa and three children, Bruce, Gayle and Brian blessed this union. After marriage, they lived in Des Moines until the fall of 1950 when they moved to Osceola to begin work at Snowdon's as a Machine mechanic. He remained with them for 30 years. Ivan also spent some time working at Leann Mfg. in Osceola, O'Bryan Brothers in Leon and Boyt Manufacturing in Osceola. Also a brief time was spent working for Gerry Mountain Sports in Boulder, CO from 1965-1966.

Ivan was a member of Osceola Eagles Lodge Aerie #3495. He also enjoyed officiating high school girls and boys basketball and later coached Little league baseball for several years. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed watching - when they were ahead.

Those relatives who preceded Ivan in death were his parents; sisters, Fern DeVore, Inez Manley, Mabel Frizzell and Cleo O'Neall; brothers, Raymond Mason, Virgil Mason, Floyd Mason.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Jean Mason of Osceola; son, Bruce (Jean) Mason of Altoona; daughter, Gayle Mason of Des Moines; son, Brian (Lori) Mason of Urbandale; grandchildren, Carla (David) Rivas of Altoona and Ryan Mason of Altoona; brothers, Clifford Mason of Osceola and Glenn (Bonnie) Mason of Bella Vista, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Robert (Pam) Boor of the Villages, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
