SLACK--Funeral services for Abner (Ephraim) Slack, 78, of 222 Beech St., who died Sunday morning in a local hospital, will be held this afternoon at 3:30 in the Lane Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Pettus officiating. Mr. Slack was a native of McMinn County, Tennessee, but had lived in the Chattanooga area for the past 47 years. He was a member of Simpson Memorial Methodist Church, and had retired from Peerless Woolen Mills where he was a member of the 25 Years Club. Interment in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Julia Turbyfill Slack; three sons, H. Abe Slack, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; James L. Slack, Rossville; William R. Slack, Fort Oglethorpe; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Lee Geyer, Miss Thelma V. Slack, both of Rossville, Mrs. Abie R. Jones, East Ridge; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Slack, Mrs. Dollie Kelley, both of Rossville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be W.R. Slack Jr., Travis Slack, Hubert Smith, Terry Hackney, Bill Cooper and Arthur Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Peerless Bible Class of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church. The body is at the Lane Funeral Home, Inc.
