Clara M. Aas, 100, of Henderson, and former lifetime resident of Williston, N.D., passed away peacefully Sept. 10, 2009. Clara began her journey through life March 3, 1909, the daughter of Christian W. and Carrie Andresen Hansen, in Williston.

She attended grade school in Montrail Township and graduated from Alexander High School. Jan. 2, 1935, she was united in marriage in Sidney, Mont., with Clifford M. Aas and they had two children.

During the 1940's and the early 1950's, they owned and operated the Root Beer Barrel Drive In and the original Dairy Queen Ice Cream. In 1957, Clara became affiliated with the Williston Elks Lodge (B.P.O.E. 1214) until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Williston and also a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose.

In 1996, Clara moved to Henderson along with her daughter and son. Her great enjoyment was playing cards along with being an avid bingo player. She enriched the lives of all of her family and so many friends and will be greatly missed.
