Otto H. "Rusty" Nissen, 66, Minot, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in a Mandan hospital.
Otto was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Minot, the son of Otto H. Nissen Sr. and Edna (Stone) Nissen. He was raised in Drake and attended school in Drake and finished his education in Butte.
He entered the United States Navy on Feb. 12, 1960, and served in active duty on the Mediterranean Sea. Otto "Rusty" was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1966. He then worked for the civil service as a diesel mechanic for 19 years, spending five of those years in the Azores.
Rusty was an animal lover and took great pride in his dogs which he called "his kids."
Rusty lived life to the fullest and always had a joke to tell when he saw you.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ben Enge Sr.; and aunt, Cecelia "Susie" Stone.
Graveside service: A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign the register Thursday, May 22, from noon to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
